The criteria for the selection of teachers for attending orientation programme and refresher course are as under:

1. A list of eligible applicants (as per UGC guidelines available on UGC website; www.ugc.ac.in) is prepared, separately for applicants from the state and for all-India basis.

2. Participants are drawn from the institutions falling within the state, and up to 25 per cent are taken on all-India basis to promote national integration. In case sufficient number is not available within the state the ASC takes participants from other states.

3. The selection of candidates, in each category is based on the principle of 'First come first serve basis' from amongst the eligible candidates whose applications are complete in all respects.

4. In any case, the number of participants should not be less than 25 in a refresher course and 30 in an orientation programme.
