The Ford Foundation selected Academic Staff College for implementing a Campus Diversity Initiative Project. The principal goal of this project is to help teachers and students understand and appreciate diverse experiences and cultural traditions of different groups within India; and to foster a climate of tolerance and respect for differences on campus and in wider society. Under the project, it is expected that the ASC will introduce diversity concerns and issues into faculty development and university staff training efforts and thereby facilitate more effective discussions of diversity in higher education in the classroom and other academic fora.
